Join us as a Principal Data Centre Engineer at Virgin Media O2

We are seeking a skilled Principal Data Centre Engineer to join our Core Infrastructure Support (CIS) team within Network Operations. The team provides 3rd Line support for platforms focusing on Cisco, Fortinet, and F5 technologies, with candidates expected to have experience in at least two of these areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and manage Core Data Centre technologies including Routing, Switching, Firewall, and Load Balancing that support critical business services.
• Provide expert-level support and innovative solutions as part of a high-profile team.
• Balance BAU operational support with the delivery of new projects, ensuring high standards and operational acceptance.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and consolidate infrastructure to improve in-life support efficiencies.
• Lead technical tasks and provide mentorship to junior team members.

Who you are:

• Experienced in supporting Data Centre network infrastructure, with knowledge of Cisco (Nexus, ASR, ASA, Firepower, ISR, Catalyst), F5 (LTM, GTM, AFM, APM), and Fortinet.
• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting NXOS, IOS XE/XR, F5 TMOS, and FortiOS.
• Strong understanding of protocols such as BGP, ISIS, VRF, OTV, STP, IPSec, PKI, VDC, VPC, VRRP, HSRP.
• Knowledge of management protocols like SSH, AAA, Syslog, SNMP, NTP, and foundational network principles.
• Certifications or significant experience in Cisco CCNP Data Centre, CCNP Security, F5, or Fortinet NSE certifications.

Additional qualities:

• Experience in Tier 1 Internet or Telco service provider support roles.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Degree in a related field preferred.
