Bringing that feel-good energy.

We're the newest face amongst the E.ON group of companies. E.ON Next is all about creating a sustainable future, now. We're moving our energy in the right direction, one little big step at a time. Join us in our mission to bring feel-good energy.

We’re also here to make this whole energy thing way easier for our customers. Like, really easy. That means providing exceptional service and using state-of-the-art tech to do it.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Analyst with a background in the retail energy sector. An industry-wide reform is happening in the electricity market. As an expert in data and analytics, this role will be responsible for working with the business to translate the change plan into a roadmap for our growing Data team and provide relevant and impactful data analytics and insights. Your expertise will help us mature our data capability and you will be mentoring junior team members. The ideal person for this role thrives in fast paced environments with high levels of empowerment, is comfortable with ambiguity and passionate and committed to making a difference. You are excited to create insights and resolve complex business problems. You enjoy the start-up mentality and are happy to roll up your sleeves: no job is too big, or too small, while also comfortable to find more scalable solutions as we mature our capability. You want to be part of growing the company, and therefore to grow with the company.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing:

  1. Take ownership of the more complex business challenges, owning them end to end with minimal levels of support.
  2. Consulting with senior stakeholders across the organisation to understand their business needs and determine the best data/analytics approach delivering value from our data in a clear and actionable manner.
  3. Comfortable being a data investigator; responsible for updating existing documentation, including data catalogue and code libraries, sharing knowledge and continuously growing best practice every day.
  4. A trusted data and analytics expert, knowing what data is available, and comfortable innovating on new analytical techniques identifying and sharing opportunities to advance the data capability.
  5. Delivering value and impact to senior stakeholders, and various forums, using excellent “storytelling” and visualisation techniques in an engaging and simple manner.
  6. Responsible for co-leading the learning and development plans across our data community and mentoring junior members of the community.

Are we the perfect match?

  1. Experience in the retail energy industry, even better if you are familiar with market-wide half-hourly settlement.
  2. Proven excellent experience as a principal/senior data analyst, most likely 7+ years.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills and high levels of curiosity.
  4. Advanced SQL and Python knowledge.
  5. Experienced working with cloud platforms, to build data pipelines, ideally DataBricks.
  6. Experience with Git, or similar, using branches and pull requests for collaborative development.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage non-technical audiences.

It would be great if you:

  1. Have strong experience with visualisation tools, preferably Tableau.
  2. Ideally experienced/exposure with advanced analytics techniques including modelling and segmentation.
  3. Thrives in environments with high levels of empowerment that are fast-paced.
  4. Amazing team player focused on collaboration and communication.
  5. Degree/Masters or equivalent in a relevant field, e.g., statistics, mathematics, etc.
