Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Cyber Researcher in Gloucester, operating in a hybrid capacity. The role involves leading cutting-edge cyber research, prototyping new capabilities, and guiding strategic efforts within the Cyber Research Group.

Eligibility for SC and enhanced DV clearance is required. You will conduct vulnerability discovery, reverse engineering, and embedded systems work, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, mission-critical solutions for defence

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C, C++, or Python
• Knowledge of Linux-based systems and commands
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with rapid prototyping using small hardware and virtual environments
• Proven track record of managing research projects from concept to delivery

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep-dive research in vulnerability discovery, reverse engineering, and embedded systems
• Design and build rapid prototypes to validate cyber capabilities and concepts
• Analyse network protocols and system behaviours to identify security weaknesses
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver research outcomes and technical solutions
• Document methodologies, findings, and recommendations for stakeholders
• Manage small research teams, track progress, and report to customers
• Contribute to CRG’s strategic planning and operational management
• Support business development, including proposal writing and technical briefings
