Job description

We are looking for a motivated, inquisitive, and detail-oriented Cost Engineer to join our small, friendly, and dynamic team within the Manufacturing organisation.

Role: Principal Cost Engineer

Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience

Hybrid working: 1-2 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. Successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

• Manufacturing cost forecasting and lifecycle analysis
• Bid teams and future business
• Design to cost initiatives
• Collaboration with design and manufacturing stakeholders
• Maintaining Business Cost Forecasting documents throughout project lifecycle
• Analyzing cost data for reporting
• Ensuring forecast transparency and robustness
• Leading and facilitating meetings
• Challenging forecasting processes for continuous improvement

What we're looking for:

• HNC/HND or equivalent education
• Strong engineering/manufacturing background
• Estimating/cost engineering experience (desirable)
• Production lifecycle experience (highly desirable)
• Understanding of manufacturing processes
• Influencing, negotiating, and persuasive skills
• Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and prioritize
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to synthesize information from various sources
• Self-motivated with resilience and tenacity
