We are seeking to grow our world-class team to ensure we continue to deliver high-caliber service and technical excellence. We are involved in many key regional and significant projects, delivered alongside our core UK and global framework projects.

With a strong pipeline of confirmed work into 2025, we have an opportunity for Senior and Principal Contaminated Land / Geo-environmental Consultants in Manchester. This role focuses on contaminated land assessment and remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project and task management
  • Management of site investigations
  • Supervision of field work including soil logging, environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling, and ground gas monitoring
  • Data collation, review, and interpretation
  • Preparation and review of technical reports, including desk studies, ground investigation reports, and remediation options
  • Site investigation design
  • Development of client relationships
  • Ensuring safety, health, and environmental standards are met
  • Support to early career professionals
Your Team

Our team of over 150 professionals provides land contamination management services across various sectors. We have expertise in all aspects of contaminated land, supporting career development and exciting projects like energy transition and nuclear decommissioning.

WSP offers a professional environment with support for your development. You will play a key role in project delivery, working closely with team members, project managers, and directors. Our offices have networks for social and professional connections.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
Experience
  • Knowledge of planning, designing, and managing site investigations
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and safe site investigation practices
  • Knowledge of UK land contamination regimes and risk-based assessments
  • Report writing skills
  • Experience with GIS and data handling (desirable)
  • Familiarity with regulatory regimes and technical areas like risk assessment, waste management, hydrogeology, remediation
Qualifications
  • Degree in chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or environmental science
  • Working towards or willing to pursue Chartership/Professional Qualification (e.g., QP)
  • Ability to travel across the UK
