Founder of Optimize Catalyst Ltd. | Transformation Specialist | Corporate Strategy | Value Creation | Operational Due Diligence | Supply Chain Design…
We seek an experienced Principal Consultant (Director level) to lead our Supply Chain Consulting team in London. Reporting to the Founder & Managing Director, you will own P&L responsibility, shape practice strategy, and drive growth by combining deep CPG/consumer goods expertise with proven consulting acumen. You will be the firm’s senior supply chain authority—crafting thought leadership, winning new business, and delivering complex transformation projects end-to-end.
Responsibilities
A) Practice Leadership & Thought Leadership
- Define and execute a five-year growth strategy for the Supply Chain practice, including service offerings, methodologies, and go-to-market positioning.
- Produce and publish at least two whitepapers or case studies per year on supply chain innovation (network design, inventory optimization, sustainability) and present at leading industry forums.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team—recruit, train, and retain top-tier consultants, analysts, and specialists.
B) Business Development & Client Management
- Own the full sales cycle: prospect, qualify, propose, negotiate, and close large-scale CPG engagements (average deal size £50 k–£200 k+).
- Cultivate relationships with existing clients to secure repeat business, expand scope, and introduce retainer-based advisory services.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of mid-market and enterprise CPG/consumer goods accounts; target both new logos and upsell opportunities in existing accounts.
- Collaborate with Founder/MD on value-based pricing, packaged service offerings, and strategic partnerships (e.g., software vendors).
C) Project Delivery
- Lead complex supply chain transformations (8–20 weeks) spanning network design, S&OP implementation, cost modeling, and KPI dashboarding.
- Serve as senior client executive—facilitate steering committees, present recommendations to C-suite, and ensure high satisfaction and measurable ROI (e.g., 10–15% working capital reduction).
- Oversee project scoping, resource allocation, and quality assurance; review all deliverables, guide the consulting team, and drive continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
A) Consulting & Industry Blend
- 15–20 years of experience with a mix of senior roles at a major consulting firm (Big 4 or Tier‐1 strategy/operations practice) and hands-on supply chain leadership within CPG, FMCG, food & beverage, retail, or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated track record of leading large‐scale supply chain transformations (network optimization, inventory management, S&OP) that delivered significant financial impact (£500 k+ ROI).
B) Technical & Commercial Expertise
- Deep expertise in supply chain modeling tools (AnyLogic, Llamasoft, advanced Excel/Python, Power BI/Tableau) and proven ability to design and implement complex S&OP processes.
- Strong business development skills: history of closing 10–15 major transformation projects annually, securing six‐figure consulting engagements, and managing P&L targets.
- Exceptional people leader: experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing consulting teams (5–10+ consultants).
- Executive presence with excellent communication skills—able to present at board level, build C‐suite relationships, and convert insights into actionable strategies.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration; MBA preferred.
- Relevant certifications (CSCP, CPIM, Six Sigma, or equivalent) strongly desirable.
