Responsibilities
- As a senior technical leader in our Power Systems Team, you will play a key role in delivering complex consultancy projects, guiding junior engineers, supporting business development, and ensuring technical excellence in power systems studies.
- Lead and deliver power systems study projects (steady-state, RMS, and EMT-based)
- Support and prepare technical and commercial proposals
- Apply study results to system design and equipment specifications
- Interact with clients, grid operators, developers, EPCs, and OEMs
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal knowledge growth
Technical Expertise – You Bring At Least 5 of the Following
- Load Flow, Reactive Power, Short-Circuit, Power Quality & Stability Studies
- Protection coordination and Arc Flash analysis
- Insulation coordination (EMT), TRV, Ferro-resonance analysis
- Techno-economic assessments and grid compliance studies
- HVDC systems and sub-synchronous interaction studies
- Scripting/automation of power analysis tools
- Experience with software such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSSE, ETAP, Python, MATLAB
Desirable Skills
- Grid connection application expertise (transmission/distribution)
- Substation design and equipment specification
- Renewable integration and corresponding grid codes
- Model development in PSCAD, PowerFactory, or similar
- Technical due diligence for power projects
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years' relevant professional experience
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) desirable
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience with UK Grid/Distribution Codes and stakeholders (e.g., NGESO, DNOs, developers)
