Are you into flood risk management and looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are seeking senior flood modellers to join our thriving business and work on major projects across the UK. If this describes you, we want to hear from you and discuss how we can help develop your career!

We have recently been named a Delivery Partner for the Environment Agency’s latest framework, aiming to better understand climate change impacts and flood risks for communities in England. Under the 2024 Mapping and Modelling Framework, AtkinsRéalis will provide survey, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological, and other professional services to support climate event planning and response. This significant program will enhance the Environment Agency's ability to understand climate impacts and reduce flood risks across England, including vital community support during floods.

As a result of this and other projects, we have vacancies across the UK for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals in technical roles.

Role: Contribute to and lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects.

Expertise: Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling for rivers, surface water, and coastal areas.

Location: Vacancies across the UK.

AtkinsRéalis offers opportunities for talented consultants to work on diverse projects at various scales, including flood risk management frameworks for the Environment Agency, local authorities, and major projects like HS2 and Sizewell C. We also work internationally on projects in the Middle East, North America, and beyond, with a collaborative international team.

Requirements:

Our vacancies are for Associate consultants, engineers, and modelers in the UK, with consideration for exceptional candidates elsewhere. You should have experience in flood risk projects focusing on hydraulic modelling, with the confidence to lead technical work and mentor junior staff. Building strong client relationships and collaborative skills are essential.

  • Experience in flood risk analysis for strategy, planning, development, or design, with proven project delivery.
  • Proficiency in 1D-2D modelling tools like Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, or HEC-RAS; GIS skills with ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS; hydrological assessment experience is desirable.
  • Some leadership experience in technical teams.
  • Ability to make robust decisions based on data and information.

Chartered status is valued, and we support professional development and memberships, including mentoring and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydraulic modelling, data analysis, GIS work, and technical reporting, ensuring quality assurance.
  • Manage and supervise junior team members, support project management, and progress multiple projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide integrated client services.
  • Support business development, including tendering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to team development through active participation in technical networks.

The individual should:

  • Be motivated and committed to technical excellence.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to new challenges.
  • Be well-organized, capable of managing multiple projects, and able to delegate appropriately.
  • Maintain high standards with attention to detail.

Training:

We offer training and development opportunities, including support for professional memberships and CPD. You will be part of our global technical networks, including the Flood Risk Management network, to support your learning and growth.
