Job Title: Principal Cloud (Azure) Engineer

We are recruiting for a Principal Cloud (Azure) Engineer to provide a key role in the development, implementation, and optimisation of our Azure Cloud infrastructure. Your Role

You will work within our IT function as part of our Cloud Engineering teams on our Azure Platform, ensuring it is fit for purpose, resilient, scalable, and capable of delivering value quickly. You will support a team of around 20 engineers as the overall lead technical authority and decision maker. The team collaborates closely with other IT, software, and data engineering teams developing innovative solutions on Azure.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical expertise in Azure Cloud solutions, infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and security
  • Define and enforce best practices, ensuring adoption of industry standards for security, compliance, and performance
  • Drive DevOps and SRE principles to enhance operational efficiency and resilience
  • Engage with leadership and teams to align cloud strategy with digital transformation goals
  • Advise on Azure cost management and efficiency strategies
  • Mentor engineering teams to embed technical excellence and regulatory compliance
Required Skills and Experience
  • Expert knowledge of Azure cloud services, including networking, data, and integration services
  • Proficiency in automation and IaC tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with Azure security, identity management, and access control
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Solution architecture skills for scalable, high-performance cloud solutions
  • Strategic thinking and cross-team collaboration skills
