Job summary

Pearson Carter is recruiting a Principal Data Engineer for a hybrid/remote role, focused on shaping an enterprise data platform. You will lead cloud-based data architectures and data pipelines, partnering with architects, product owners and engineers.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/Python, and hands-on experience with Azure/AWS/GCP, Databricks, Snowflake and CD/CI, DataOps, and data governance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering or software engineering.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures.
• Expertise with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Advanced SQL and Python development skills.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data integration solutions.
• Knowledge of DataOps, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and master data management.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-scale cloud data platforms and architectures.
• Lead scalable data pipelines, integration frameworks, and reusable data products.
• Drive Data Engineering, DataOps and DevOps best practices across teams.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automated deployment processes.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, lineage and compliance.
• Collaborate with architects, software engineers, analysts and stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Optimize platform performance and operational efficiency.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the function.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to shape long-term data strategy.
