A leading mental health organization in Wigan is seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist to oversee junior staff and provide expert neuropsychological assessments. The role involves developing services for dementia and memory assessment, ensuring high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will work closely with the psychology lead and contribute to service development and training.

The post holder will provide supervision and oversight of the work of junior psychologists. They will supervise trainees on placement.
They will offer expert specialist neuropsychological assessment to highly complex cases referred to the MATS on a regular basis, and to other clinical psychologists in other older adult services in Wigan on an ad-hoc basis as required. Other duties include teaching, training, supervision of staff, service development, and conducting audit and research relevant to the service's needs. The postholder will provide advice and support to staff regarding memory assessment, dementia diagnosis, and potential interventions.
The post holder will work closely with the Wigan Psychology lead, providing line management and clinical supervision to older adult psychologists as needed.
Using their specialist expertise in neuropsychology and dementia treatments, they will develop and evaluate evidence-based services in memory assessment or psychological treatments for dementia or high-risk individuals. They will advise the Wigan Psychology lead on governance matters related to memory assessment within the Older Adult Psychology resource.

Working hours include Saturday (midnight to midnight), any weekday after 8pm and before 6am, and all hours on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service length, and relevant qualifications and experience as detailed in the original description.
