A mental health service provider in Highweek is seeking a Principal Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist to provide clinical direction and enhance service delivery. The role involves supervising team members, designing interventions, and contributing to service development. Candidates should be qualified psychologists with expertise in various therapies. This position offers extensive development opportunities and requires a commitment to quality care.
Newly/early qualifiedpsychologists could be appointed at band 7 under a preceptorship to work towardsrequirements for band 8a, subject to satisfactory completion of preceptorshipprocess.
The nationalOPD pathway is a collection of services based primarily in prisons andprobation, where NHS and HMPPS staff work together with the aims of increasingthe wellbeing and reducing the risk of those screened into the pathway, whilstalso improving the knowledge and attitudes of staff working with them. Thepathway is formulation driven rather than relying on medical diagnosis, andfocuses on psychological thinking in all aspects of service delivery.
Roles withinthe pathway offer significant opportunities for development, using a wide rangeof the skills developed through training as a practitioner psychologist.
This is an intervention service supporting thosescreened into the pathway who are stuck in the system or displaying behaviours that mean theyarent able to access other services they would benefit them (e.g. self-harm,substance use). The service provides individual and group interventions in arange of modalities with a focus on the relational. This includes thedevelopment of a shared formulation with each person on caseload, as well aspro-social groups (e.g. gardening), psycho-educational groups(e.g. healthy self-esteem), skills groups (e.g. DBT skills) and moretherapeutic groups (e.g. MBT). The service also provides psychologicalinterventions on a 1:1 basis
