Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist - Staff Wellbeing based at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is fixed term to the end of March 2028.

What you will do:

NHS Ayrshire and Arran are recruiting a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (8A) within the pan-Ayrshire Staff Psychology team contributing to the Staff Wellbeing service. This is an exciting post with strong professional development opportunities within a small but highly motivated, passionate, and supportive specialist team. The postholder will be an integral member of the team while working closely with colleagues across the Staff Wellbeing service. The role includes involvement in staff training and supervision, as well as potential for local research and audit projects. There are opportunities to be involved in service development, with a focus on shaping the development of our Staff Psychology team across three Health and Social Care Partnerships.

Services are delivered directly to the population through specialist therapeutic interventions for staff requiring our service from the health and social care workforce in Ayrshire & Arran. Psychological Services provide expert advice, consultancy, training, and supervision to develop the psychological skills of health and non-health professionals. They aim to enhance psychological care delivery across the healthcare system through strategic contributions.

Knowledge, training, and/or experience required:

• Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
• Honours degree in Psychology (minimum upper 2nd class), eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychology status
• Evidence of appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
• Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration
• Must be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist. Trainee Clinical Psychologists are not expected to be HCPC registered at application but must attain registration before starting the role.

This post is fixed term until March 2028, at 18.5 hours per week. Variations in contractual hours may be considered; applicants are encouraged to discuss their preferences.
