Overview

A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist in a multi-disciplinary team that warmly welcomes psychological ideas and practices. We are seeking to appoint an 8b Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to work in our Home Based Treatment Teams (HBTT) based in North Manchester (0.5 w.t.e.).

With a significant focus upon multi-disciplinary team working, the post will require a strong contribution to MDT meetings to support HBTT clinicians in decision making and care planning. The team focuses upon urgent assessments of acute mental health needs, comprehensive risk formulations, promoting psychological understanding of crises and supporting the guidance of service users into appropriate referral pathways. Participation in audit, research, service development initiatives and teaching and training will be encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the Home Based Treatment Teams (HBTT) in North Manchester, contributing to urgent assessments of acute mental health needs.
  • Provide or contribute to comprehensive risk formulations and the promotion of psychological understanding of crises.
  • Support HBTT clinicians in decision making and care planning through active participation in MDT meetings.
  • Participate in audit, research, service development initiatives and teaching and training as encouraged and supported.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Psychologists with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working within a culturally diverse inner city environment.
  • Experience of formulating risk and working with complex and enduring mental health problems is essential to this post.
  • Suitable for a clinical / counselling psychologist who can apply a flexible and theoretically integrative approach to a wide range of mental health needs and risks presented to the team.
  • Professionally managed with supervision, access to CPD and annual appraisals; strong links to regional Doctoral Clinical Psychology Training Courses and host placements for Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
