Murphy is recruiting a Principal Engineer to work with our Applied Engineering Team in our Warrington office. Join Murphy as a Principal Civil/Structural Temporary Works Design Engineer taking a leading role in delivering critical water infrastructure across the UK.

Based from one of our offices in Warrington, Cannock, or Kentish Town, you’ll collaborate closely with project and site teams to develop practical solutions that make a real impact – above and below ground.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and relevant professional qualifications.
• Experience managing projects from design and cost perspectives.
• Demonstrated financial management and cost control of projects.
• Strong analysis and design skills with ability to interpret design requirements and analyze complex structures.
• Open-minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges.
• Chartered status with ICE and/or IStructE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Applied Engineering's single point of contact to multiple projects with management responsibility for deliverables and costs.
• Report to the Senior Engineering Manager.
• Represent the Applied Engineering team in collaborative project team meetings.
• Carry out civil/structural designs and act as checker on other designs.
• Undertake site visits when appropriate.
• Collate feedback on solutions and contribute to lessons learned meetings.
• Prepare integrated permanent works proposals to meet bid and project delivery stage requirements.
• Manage the design work of other staff and external designers.
• Mentor all levels of staff including graduates within Applied Engineering.
• Work collaboratively with other Principal Engineers in department growth.
