Job description

Our client, a prominent player in the oil and gas sector, is currently seeking a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. Based out of the Aberdeen office, you will lead a team of engineers and designers, supporting the broader multi-disciplinary design and construction teams working on petrochemical projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Communicating confidently and authoritatively with clients

Challenging and delivering value engineering solutions

Maintaining the required technical quality of work produced by the Civil and Structural team

Ensuring all assigned work complies with the agreed budget and schedule

Reviewing and checking drawings, calculations, specifications and related documentation for civil and structural works

Developing design documents, reports and specifications

Communicating designs effectively to the wider teams

Delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders

Assisting in developing the knowledge and skills of the Civil and Structural team

Leading and managing teams effectively

Supporting and guiding junior team members

Ensuring safety by design with a strong focus on assessing and articulating risks

Appreciating the requirements of temporary works

Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering

Chartered status with ICE or IStructE

Considerable experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer in the petrochemical sector

Knowledge of Energy Sector industry norms and specifications

Competence in the design of foundations, pipe supports, pipe racks/tracks, rotating equipment supports, gas process structures, drainage, steel, concrete and temporary works

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment

A UK driving licence

Offshore experience (beneficial but not essential)
