We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's reputable Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. Established in the 2000s, our client has grown into a leading independent development consultancy with over 10 offices across the UK, working on projects in various sectors. You can expect to work on large-scale urban extensions, area regeneration strategies, renewable energy, and residential schemes.
The ideal candidate should have experience leading projects and teams, while also being comfortable with hands-on technical design, including producing drawings and documentation. A background in consultancy/private sector development, particularly with a focus on private sector projects, is advantageous.

What you need to succeed
- BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related degree, plus 5+ years of relevant postgraduate experience, ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant professional body such as ICE.
- Proven ability to lead in the production of highway, drainage, or general development infrastructure schemes.
- Experience in managing major projects independently, including workload management for junior team members.
- Ability to prepare drawings and calculations for private and adoptable arrangements, applying relevant principles, codes, and standards. Experience with watercourse consent and technical approval processes is desirable.
- Good understanding of best practices and guidance such as Manual for Streets, DMRB, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, and Local Authority standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D or similar 3D modelling software.
- Experience with drainage modelling software like MicroDrainage is desirable.
- Ability to handle non-technical aspects such as contracts, financials, and resourcing.
- Private sector development experience with a focus on private projects.
