Job summary

Emtech Recruitment is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer in Glasgow to lead civil design across roads, drainage, earthworks and flood risk for development projects. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, liaising with clients and contractors, and contributing to business growth.

The successful candidate will join a growing Glasgow team, with hybrid working and a flexible approach to hours and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in civil engineering.
• Experience with roads, drainage, earthworks, levels and/or flood risk.
• Experience working in a consultancy environment.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
• Collaborative, team-focused approach.
• Ambition to help develop and grow a team.
• Existing contacts within the Scottish/Glasgow development and engineering market advantageous.
• Interest in business development and work winning with support from leadership.

Responsibilities

• Roads and infrastructure design.
• Drainage and surface water management.
• Earthworks and levels.
• Flood risk and drainage assessments.
• Civil engineering design for development projects.
• Residential development experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Preparation and review of technical reports, drawings and specifications.
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
• Work closely with clients, contractors and other consultants.
• Help shape and grow the Glasgow civil engineering team as it develops.
