Job summary

Vertical Recruitment is working with an established multidisciplinary consultancy to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to strengthen its engineering team.

The role combines technical design ownership with project coordination and client liaison across drainage, earthworks and development infrastructure for a UK-wide portfolio.

The successful candidate will lead design packages, mentor junior staff and drive delivery from feasibility through construction.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in civil engineering consultancy, infrastructure or contractor-led design.
• Strong experience across drainage, SuDS, pavements, earthworks, levels and external works.
• Proficient with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Causeway Flow.
• Experience producing calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of highways and drainage approval processes (Section 38, 104, 278).
• Experience managing design packages and coordinating technicians.
• Chartered or near-chartered with ICE advantageous; experienced non-chartered considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design packages across drainage, SuDS, highways and external works.
• Produce and review technical designs, calculations, drawings and specs.
• Manage projects from feasibility through detailed design, approvals and construction.
• Coordinate with structural/geotechnical teams to resolve interfaces.
• Lead engineers and technicians; mentor junior staff.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and approving authorities throughout delivery.
• Support project planning, fee proposals, programmes and commercial management.
