Job summary

Alwych Consulting in Exeter is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead a range of projects from feasibility to construction. You will manage resources, budgets and client relationships while delivering high-quality civil infrastructure schemes across residential, commercial and education sectors.

The role requires a Chartered or aspiring ICE member with strong highways, drainage and SuDS experience, plus mentoring of junior engineers and input to tenders.

Qualifications

• A BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience within a civil engineering consultancy environment.
• Experience leading projects and supervising junior engineers.
• Strong experience in highways and pavement design.
• Good knowledge of foul and surface water drainage, including SuDS.
• Experience using MicroDrainage / Causeway Flow or similar drainage modelling software.
• Experience producing technical reports, specifications and feasibility studies.
• Strong understanding of design standards including Sewers for Adoption, SuDS Manual, DMRB and Manual for Streets.
• Experience designing adoptable infrastructure and working with Section 104, 106, 38 and 278 agreements.
• Experience liaising with local authorities and other stakeholders to secure technical approvals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A good understanding of CDM 2015.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution such as ICE, ideally with Chartered status or working towards Chartership.

Principal Civil Engineer Exeter Salary: Competitive, depending on experience I'm currently recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to take a senior role within a close-knit team, working across a varied project portfolio covering residential, commercial and education developments. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction, while also taking responsibility for project delivery, client relationships and supporting the development of more junior engineers.

The Role
