Job summary

ICE Recruit is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer for London to lead the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data centre developments. The role covers planning through to construction support, in a specialist team focused purely on data centres.

The successful candidate will drive external works design, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and maintain high technical standards while meeting project programmes and budgets.

Qualifications

• UK consultancy experience delivering infrastructure design projects.
• Strong highways, drainage and external works expertise.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
• Chartered status (CEng MICE) or near CEng is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering design of complex developments, taking responsibility for external site layouts that maximise capacity, accessibility and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the design and coordination of underground infrastructure, including drainage, utilities, fuel systems and service routes.
• Deliver site infrastructure solutions covering roads, hardstanding, security perimeters and landscaping.
• Interpret ground investigation data and develop practical foundation strategies in collaboration with structural engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership, manage multidisciplinary project teams, mentor junior engineers and build strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Ensure designs are delivered to the highest technical standards, on programme and within budget.

Principal Civil Engineer – London. £75k-£80k plus 15% bonus. Our client is a leading international engineering consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering world-class data centre projects across the globe. They are looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical developments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist team focused exclusively on data centres, working on technically challenging projects from initial site planning through to detailed design and construction support.

• Lead the civil engineering design of complex developments, taking responsibility for external site layouts that maximise capacity, accessibility and operational efficiency.
