Job summary

iO Associates is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer for hybrid work in London or Epsom to lead multidisciplinary teams on critical infrastructure and land development projects across the UK. You will oversee earthworks, drainage strategies, utilities and pavements, delivering high‑level technical deliverables and mentoring junior staff.

The role requires Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status (or degree equivalent) and a strong track record in consultancy civil design, with proficiency

Qualifications

• Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) Civil Engineer (or degree equivalent) is required.
• Experience coordinating civil design delivery teams in a consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of external works design, CDM regulations and UK design codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams delivering complex external works packages (earthworks, drainage, utilities, pavements).
• Author and approve high‑level technical deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineering talent and support career development.

Skills

• Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) Civil Engineer (or degree equivalent).

• Strong technical background in external works design, CDM regulations, and UK design codes.
• Hands‑on proficiency with tools such as Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, or Causeway Flow.
