Qualifications

• Expérience dans la conception de solutions d'ingénierie civile en utilisant les Eurocodes.
• Expérience dans des projets d'infrastructure lourde, idéalement dans le secteur nucléaire.
• Connaissance du processus réglementaire nucléaire au Royaume-Uni souhaitable.

About the Opportunity

Jacobs is currently recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) business. NPETS is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector.

This role will be based at one of our NPETS offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Knutsford, Gloucester or Dorchester). We put flexibility at the heart of what we do and we’re happy to consider flexible working patterns. Key responsibilities:

1. Working with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high profile projects. Manage programmes and resources, delivering to time and budget.
2. Take ownership of technical challenges, develop a strategy and implement the solution through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
3. Produce and review design deliverables (assumption notes, technical specifications and calculation notes, etc).
4. Direct resources to perform analysis tasks as necessary.
5. Develop and review safety case inputs, such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).
6. Review and justify design decisions to the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
7. Fulfil and take ownership of CDM responsibilities.
8. Support preparation of fee proposals.
9. Develop client relationships to help grow the portfolio.

Here's What You'll Need:

1. MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree level qualification.
2. Chartered with relevant institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
3. Ability to work within, and where required, lead a design team, and also able to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
4. Good understanding of structural theory, with proven problem-solving ability.
5. Previous experience in the design and/or construction of civil engineering solutions using Eurocodes (and ideally American codes).
6. Demonstrable experience in the design of heavy infrastructure projects, nuclear or regulated industry.
7. Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.
8. Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
9. Problem solver who is able to offer solutions to challenges.
10. Knowledge and understanding of UK Nuclear Regulatory process in the field of civil engineering is extremely desirable.
11. ONR Generic Design Assessment experience is extremely desirable.
