Job summary

Purosearch is seeking a Principal Carbon Lead to manage client relationships and lead technical assessments on Whole Life Carbon and embodied impacts for built environment projects in Central London. This hybrid role requires hands-on use of One Click LCA and strong project management across multiple sites and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience using One Click LCA for building life cycle assessments.
• Deep understanding of Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Embodied Carbon methodologies within the UK built environment sector.
• Proven track record of managing external client relationships and delivering presentations to key project stakeholders.
• Strong project management with the ability to manage commercial aspects and timelines.
• Based in or within easy commuting distance of London; hybrid attendance at London office/sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead Whole Life Carbon and Embodied Carbon assessments across all RIBA project stages using One Click LCA.
• End-to-end delivery of sustainability deliverables across multiple concurrent building projects.
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients, translating carbon data into actionable design advice.
• Ensure client projects meet major UK reporting standards and targets (RICS WLC, LETI, UK Net Zero).
• Mentor junior and mid-level carbon analysts within the team.

We collaborate with developers, architects, and contractors across London and the UK to deliver low-carbon construction projects. We are seeking an experienced Principal Carbon Lead to manage key client relationships and lead technical assessments on whole life carbon and embodied impacts.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Carbon Modelling: Lead Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Embodied Carbon assessments across all RIBA project stages using tools such as One Click LCA.
• Project Management: End-to-end delivery of sustainability deliverables, managing scope, budgets, and timelines across multiple concurrent building projects.
• Client Advisory: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, and developers, translating complex carbon data into actionable design advice.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure client projects meet major UK reporting standards and targets, including RICS WLC methodology, GLA policy requirements, LETI, and UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard.
• Mentorship: Guide and review the technical output of junior and mid-level carbon analysts within the team.

Requirements

• Software Expertise: Hands-on, practical experience using One Click LCA for building life cycle assessments.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Embodied Carbon methodologies within the UK built environment sector.
• Client Management: Proven track record of managing external client relationships and delivering presentations to key project stakeholders.
• Project Delivery: Strong project management skills with the ability to manage commercial aspects and project timelines efficiently.
• Location & Availability: Based in or within easy commuting distance of London. Able to attend our London office or local project sites whenever needed (Hybrid arrangement)
