As a Principal CAD/BIM Technician, you will be part of the project delivery teams working on BIM models for the Structures discipline, interfacing with BIM leads in other disciplines to create federated models and perform clash detection. You will collaborate with Regional leads, Project Directors, and Project Managers, and contribute to the Technical Leadership Group to develop a coherent design process that maximizes data exchange across multiple software platforms.

A typical week would include:

1. Providing 3D modelling expertise to multidisciplinary projects in the Building Structures sector.
2. Leading projects and liaising with other discipline counterparts.
3. Mentoring and guiding junior team members.
4. Managing and reviewing work by external resources.
5. Supporting BIM development within the Structures teams and ensuring compliance with BIM Level 2 standards.
6. Developing team skills and capabilities for project delivery within BIM environments.
7. Upskilling colleagues and external partners on BIM processes.
8. Developing and cross-checking model information against Employer Information Requirements, including clash detection and validation.
9. Interfacing with multidisciplinary teams and promoting BIM benefits at the project level.
10. Monitoring clash detection issues and providing high-quality models and drawings in 2D and 3D.
11. Applying knowledge of health and safety standards.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• CAD experience in 2D and 3D modeling.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks; familiarity with Aecosim, Projectwise, and BIM360 is advantageous.
• Ability to manage data securely.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for positive collaboration.
• Experience operating in a BIM Level 2 compliant environment.
• Willingness to learn new software and processes.
• Ability to coordinate teams and manage workload effectively.

Minimum HNC/D in engineering or relevant field, with a clear understanding of BIM's benefits to construction, building materials, and standards such as Eurocodes, BS1192, PAS1192, and ISO 19650. Ability to sign confidentiality agreements and security clearances is required. A flexible, amiable attitude is essential.
