We are looking to appoint a forward-thinking and solution-focused Principal Building Services Engineer (Mechanical). This role is based in our vibrant, centrally located Bristol office. You will deliver exceptional technical and commercial solutions to clients across the private and public sectors, including education, custodial, defence, healthcare, leisure, data, and commercial.

  1. Delivering portfolios of work across both private and public sectors, managing various contracts.
  2. Preparing designs, feasibility studies, technical reports, and contract documents.
  3. Carrying out building analysis and providing system design calculations.
  4. Liaising directly with clients and contractors.
  5. Ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on time.
  6. Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and graduate trainees.
  7. Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety requirements, practices, and procedures.

Our ideal Principal Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) should have:

  • HND/Degree in Building Services Engineering (Mechanical) or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards this status.
  • Significant experience in mechanical building services/HVAC design, including domestic water services, ventilation, heating, and cooling.
  • Strong working knowledge of IES, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including UK Building Regulations, as well as Low/Zero Carbon Technologies and BREEAM.
  • In-depth understanding of construction industry design processes and procurement arrangements.
  • Proven design skills across various sectors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and self-motivated approach.
  • Experience in resource planning and management.
  • Business development experience and the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Ambition and capability to develop your career within a people-focused, client-driven consultancy.
