Your company
You will be joining an innovative biopharmaceutical company with an excellent reputation for Research & Development. They have been investing heavily in their Bioinformatics & Data Science capabilities and are expanding their teams and technology.
They seek someone to help drive drug discovery and development through advanced Bioinformatics and Data Science approaches, including personalised medicine and biomarker development.

Your new role
This contract position (with flexible home working) initially lasts 12 months with potential extension. You will work closely with multiple groups within the company to support drug discovery across various disease areas. Your tasks include analyzing large-scale NGS/genetic/omics data, developing scripts/tools/pipelines, and applying ML techniques.
Main responsibilities include:

1. Analyzing omic and genetic/genomic datasets (e.g., gene expression, transcriptomics)
2. Developing new scripts, tools, pipelines for R&D projects using computational biology or ML approaches
3. Incorporating new data sets and approaches into R&D work
4. Enhancing existing tools and platforms
5. Collaborating with R&D stakeholders to advise on drug targets
6. Providing insights on drug discovery strategies, patient stratification, and biomarker development
7. Programming in R and/or Python for pipeline and tool development

What you'll need to succeed
A background or experience in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Biology, Computer Science, or Statistics is required. Experience with genetic/genomic, NGS, or multi-omic datasets from clinical or drug discovery projects is essential. Knowledge of drug discovery/development in pharma or biotech is preferred. Skills in Python or R, ML, and predictive modeling are necessary. Strong communication skills and team collaboration experience are also important.
