Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver specialist support and advice to benefit processing or housing benefit overpayment teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
2. Monitor and allocate incoming work, provide training and guidance on all software systems and forms, and recommend policy or procedural changes to improve customer experience.
3. Accurately process Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Free School Meals, and all discretionary schemes, including those under Local Welfare provisions.
4. Develop and implement strategies for Housing Benefit overpayment recovery.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have experience making decisions on complex Specified Accommodation cases in accordance with HB Regulations. They should be able to identify whether claims qualify as specified accommodation, scrutinize documents, handle revision requests, liaise with landlords, and coordinate with the Team Leader regarding findings. The candidate must also be capable of advising team members and managing the team in the absence of the Team Leader.
