Principal / Associate Structural Engineer

Gateshead

Salary up to £65k

Calibre Search are working alongside a growing, privately owned Consultancy in the North East who consistently deliver a variety of schemes throughout the UK. Due to a healthy forward workload, they are currently looking to appoint a Senior level Structural Engineer to come in at either Principal or Associate level to help grow the business and build a team around.

Their experienced team help to deliver the whole life cycle of a scheme from Feasibility/Appraisal Stage to Planning Stage to Detailed Design Stage through to Construction Completion, ongoing maintenance and operation. Their current team has vast Engineering and practical experience in delivering schemes in all sectors including Residential, Commercial/Retail, Industrial, Student Accommodation, Sport & Leisure, Education and Heritage.

As well as having the ability to manage projects, providing support, mentoring and guidance to less experienced colleagues, you will take initiative and manage your own workload/deadlines. The role will require you to review documents, designs and drawings completed by team to ensure consistent high quality and compliance with design standards, industry best practice, contractual obligations and client expectations.

Possessing a minimum of seven years UK industry experience, you will be able to act as Technical lead on projects large and small. You will liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives. You will carry out structural engineering assessment and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.

Undertaking analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and FastTrack Building Designer, you will be responsible for preparing high quality technical reports including structural surveys and ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.

As a Chartered or near Chartered Engineer, you have varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types and be experienced in the use of Eurocodes. Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills are required, as is experience of structural analysis design and software essential.
