Principal/Associate Director Marine Environmental Consultant - offshore wind/inconnectors

The Opportunity:

TetraTech RPS Energy is adding a Principal Environmental Consultant - EIA - Offshore Wind to our Marine Consenting team. This role will deliver client projects in the UK and internationally, predominantly for Offshore Wind and Interconnectors, but also in other offshore/coastal sectors we are involved in.

We operate a hybrid working arrangement and you can be based in Edinburgh, Woking, Chepstow, Aberdeen, or London (home working can be considered). We offer flexible working opportunities, including part-time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.

We are at the forefront of the industry, delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments, including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience spans 20 years across the UK, Europe, Americas, Australia, and Asia. You'll join a highly experienced marine consenting and environment team, known for leading major EIAs and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) for significant projects like Orsted's Hornsea series and SSE's Berwick Bank.

Your Role:

You will work on and manage a range of EIAs for large-scale marine and coastal infrastructure projects, focusing on Offshore Wind, Interconnectors, and Energy Transition in the UK and Ireland. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordination and delivery of EIAs (including offshore and onshore project elements)
  • Managing marine consents and ensuring compliance
  • Technical review and report delivery
  • Building relationships with statutory consultees and the public
  • Guiding clients through marine consenting and environmental assessments
  • Mentoring junior colleagues to develop their skills
  • Prioritizing health and safety at all times and reporting incidents
Qualifications:

Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the EIA process for major energy infrastructure projects, with experience across both onshore and offshore aspects. Ideally, candidates will have:
  • A degree in a relevant environmental field, with an MSc in topics like Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Consultancy experience managing EIA projects
  • Teamwork experience, liaising with technical specialists such as marine processes and underwater noise experts
  • Experience working with regulators and conservation bodies
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
