Job description

The Vacancy:

Binnies geotechnical team continues to grow due to continued successes in tendering. As we enter the next water regulatory period (AMP8), we will be providing geotechnical input for the majority of UK water companies, building critical infrastructure with a focus on storm spill reduction. We are also supporting water companies in developing their reservoir designs to safeguard future drinking water supplies.

This work includes frameworks supporting the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and the Canals and River Trust.

As part of this growth, we are offering advanced geotechnical services and engaging in more complex designs, including temporary works, providing staff opportunities to learn new skills and be involved in new service directions. Many schemes are design and build, allowing us to see our designs come to life and be constructed.

About the Role:

  • Review work of junior staff
  • Design diverse geotechnical engineering solutions
  • Provide technical oversight on projects
  • Lead geotechnical work packages and teams
  • Manage and lead parts of the geotechnical team
  • Conduct site visits

You should possess and demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:

  • Masters degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
  • Chartered status (ideally with ICE or IoM)
  • Full UK driving license for site visits

Additional skills and qualities include:

  • Ability to work remotely
  • Experience at a senior level
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Proactive, methodical problem-solving approach
  • Success in designing, planning, and organizing tasks
  • Passion for engineering

We promote a supportive, inclusive culture emphasizing wellbeing and work-life balance, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Join Binnies to grow your career in a respectful and empowering environment.
