Job description

Principal Application Performance Engineer

Job Overview: We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer who thrives on taking on performance bottlenecks and optimising software and cloud-based systems. If you're someone who loves challenging performance issues, using groundbreaking tools, and enjoys sharing your knowledge, we want you on our team. Would you like to join our growing team in the UK and USA that are building a developer friendly and extensible performance analysis toolkit and help our users solve their performance bottlenecks?

Responsibilities:
  1. Accountable for ensuring our performance tools provide the automated insights to solve performance issues.
  2. Establish the 'what do I do next' insights for performance workflows.
  3. Grow into a go-to expert on performance workflows on Arm Neoverse platforms, driving user impact by bringing technical insights from across the organization to life in tooling.
  4. Work with product, UX (user experience) and engineering to help specify and test required features in the tool.
  5. Craft end to end application performance issues as demonstrable examples and tests.
  6. Build online support documentation and code examples for developers debugging performance problems through our learning paths.
Required Skills and Experience:
  1. Proven experience identifying and resolving performance issues in server and cloud contexts with a deep understanding of computer architecture.
  2. Familiarity with performance profiling and monitoring tools (e.g., VTune, New Relic, Datadog, AppDynamics, Grafana, Prometheus).
  3. A passion and history of writing and sharing technical knowledge.
  4. Proficient in both high and low level programming preferably with C++ and Python.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
  1. Applicable knowledge of the Arm architecture and how it differs from x86.
  2. Technical leadership roles and responsibilities.
