Job Description: What You'll Do

Utilize a vast repertoire of delivering high-impact software solutions to work intuitively. Speed comes from intuition. If something breaks, you know where to look. Typically handles the tough parts – e.g., (re)designs and spends more time documenting than coding. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the role to management.

How You'll Do It
  • Create technology solutions addressing high-impact business priorities. Demonstrate the ability to analyze, design, code, test, and deploy solutions and product features with high quality to production. Possess a level of technical expertise enabling solutions with high complexity and depth.
  • Be competent in multiple technical domains, including programming, security, automation, testing, and business domains. Serve as the go-to person for many outside your team. Participate in strategic technology decisions and understand their impact on Discover.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate issues based on intuition and experience across domains. Drive problem-solving to determine root causes. Coach technology communities at Discover in areas such as technology domains, design-thinking, agile development, security, architecture, and data engineering.
Qualifications You'll Need
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related areas.
  • Proficiency on the Dreyfus Engineering scale.
  • Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented principles with the ability to write clean code.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar, Git/GitHub, Artifactory.
  • Skills in high availability and scalability design, performance monitoring.
  • Experience developing and implementing API service architecture.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Understanding messaging systems like MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Kinesis.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements

Primarily remain stationary, perform indoors in an office setting, operate office equipment, communicate verbally and in writing. No travel required. Must be authorized to work in the UK. No sponsorship available.
