hedgehog lab is a digital product consultancy with 20 years of experience helping public and private sector organisations through digital transformation. We're B Corp and Great Place to Work certified. You'll lead a hedgehog lab delivery team working on our client's customer-facing Android app.

Our client is a well-known UK bank. This contract starts January 2027 and runs for around six months, with a remote-first setup and an on-site expectation.

Qualifications

• Senior or lead Android experience with Kotlin and Coroutines.
• Experience directing technical direction and architecture for an Android app.
• Mentoring engineers and setting team standards.
• Expertise with Jetpack Compose, XML layouts, Data Binding, and Java.
• MVVM with Hilt/Dagger, unit testing with JUnit and MockK.
• Security of data and network calls, and defect/ performance investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical decisions, including moving from XML/Data Binding to Compose.
• Set coding, testing and code review standards for the team.
• Mentor senior engineers and align with client engineers.
• Collaborate with client teams on technical approach and priorities.
• Build features in Kotlin/Compose within MVVM using Hilt/Dagger.
• Ensure secure handling of data and network calls; investigate defects.
