Job Description:

We are searching for an experienced Principal Acoustics Consultant at our London Farringdon Street facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Principal Acoustic Consultant to join our Acoustics Team in London, Brighton, Birmingham or Manchester, working within the Air Quality & Noise Team, which is a part of our wider UK Environment & Infrastructure Division.

Our projects are all around you. We define, design and manage projects that create shared value to a complex, urbanising and resource-scarce world. Our people are our success. We need people who share our passion on solving the problems that matter. Here you’ll find work that is challenging and rewarding, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary environment with highly experienced and collaborative colleagues. There is a genuine ethos of ensuring a good work/life balance within this diverse and friendly team and you will be a key player in the success of the business unit and will be able to develop advanced expertise in one or more specialist areas of acoustics consultancy enhancing your skills and enabling you to develop and shape your career as you progress at RPS.

This is an interesting and varied role where you’ll liaise closely with clients, developing relationships to enhance business opportunities, preparing fee proposals and carrying out noise and vibration assessments. Key aspects of the role include collating data, computer modelling, noise and vibration measurement, calculations and processing of results, interpretation of data, production of reports, drawings, figures and tables and producing acoustic design specifications. Other tasks will see you: managing projects within the agreed budgets and delivering a product of suitable quality within the agreed timescales including: invoicing; attending meetings, supporting Business Development; deputising when necessary, and providing technical reviews to a high standard.

Who we are looking for

You’ll already have solid experience of being at Senior/Principal level ideally. You’ll have a collaborative and consultative approach, be good at developing relationships and be confident and decisive. Ideally, you'll have been educated to degree level or equivalent within a relevant subject (MSc / MEng or BSc / BEng in Acoustics or Physics, AMIOA, Tech, MIOA)

You’ll be technically sound across the main environmental acoustics areas: noise and vibration assessment, noise and vibration monitoring and computer modelling techniques and always up to date with current methods, legislation, procedures and standards.

We'll need you to be numerically proficient and IT literate in mapping, acoustic modelling and, ideally, AutoCAD and have great analytical and problem-solving skills. Good financial and project management skills are a must as are strong influencing and communication skills to enable you to build, maintain and consolidate working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.

There will be some travel involved so we'll need you to have full clean UK driving

What’s in it for you

Our employees are rewarded with competitive salaries, opportunities to invest and many other benefits including: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, Option to purchase up to 5 extra days per year, Company pension scheme, Group Disability Scheme, Share Incentive Scheme, Life Assurance, Cycle to Work Scheme, Health Screening, Employee Assistance Programme (including numerous wellbeing initiatives and mental health support), Dental and Vision Cover, Subsidised Gym Membership, Professional Memberships and access to BenefitHub offering discounts, cash back offers and rewards.

We’re an accredited training provider – from entry level to master’s degree level professional qualifications in leadership & management and executive coaching & mentoring, we support learning and development for everyone.

A personal development plan and a transparent career pathway puts you in the driving seat of your career and you’ll be supported as far as you want to go.

We encourage and value different ideas, perspectives, and styles of thinking. We need a mix of experiences and skills to develop the most innovative ideas. We respect one another and recognise the potential and contribution of everyone. You’ll be joining a diverse community and a company that puts its people first and prioritises their wellbeing.

We understand the need to work flexibly, with agile offices and hybrid working offered as standard, we’re happy to talk about flexible working. This is a workplace that works for you.

A career here is far from ordinary. Here you’re not a number, you’re part of the solution.

What happens next?

The Talent Acquisition Team will be in touch to let you know the outcome of your application. If your application is progressed, you’ll have a conversation with one of our recruiters followed by a two-stage interview process with the Acoustics Team.
If this opportunity suits your career journey, we’d love to hear from you. All applications will be considered, and we will try ourbest to respond to you within seven working days.
