Overview

Principal Accountant needed in Burton Upon Trent, £28.25ph – PAYE – 5275189

Responsibilities
  • To lead the in-year revenue budget monitoring and reporting process in line with the established guidelines.
  • To provide financial advice, guidance and innovative financial solutions in order that informed and timely decisions can be made by officers and members.
  • To lead the preparation of the Statement of Accounts in accordance with the relevant standards and codes of practice and to ensure the integrity of the Client’s Balance Sheet.
  • To maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of financial codes of practice and regulations and to provide advice and guidance on their application and interpretation.
  • Under guidelines established by the Chief Accountant, be responsible for the overall detailed preparation of the Medium Term Financial Strategy.
  • To identify and lead on projects or initiatives in order to contribute to the continuous improvement and efficiency of the team.
  • To ensure the accurate completion of various statutory and non-statutory returns in a timely manner.
  • To provide financial advice and analysis in respect of any grant or discretionary funding applications received by the Client.
  • Supervision, management and development of staff within Financial Management, as designated by the Chief Accountant.
  • The provision of training, guidance and development to managers and team leaders in relation to their responsibilities as budget managers.

This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
