Overview

Are you a compassionate and experienced primary teacher with a desire to make a difference? TPTutors is looking for a dedicated Primary Tutor to support Looked After Children (LAC) in the Gateshead area—both those currently out of education and those who may need additional support within a school setting.

This rewarding role involves delivering the primary curriculum through tailored, one-to-one or small-group sessions—either at home, in school, or in the community—helping pupils re-engage with learning while they await a new school place or require additional support within their current setting.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the primary curriculum through tailored, one-to-one or small-group sessions in home, school, or community settings.
  • Support Looked After Children and pupils out of mainstream education to re-engage with learning.
  • Adapt sessions to individual needs and maintain a calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
  • Manage own timetable with flexibility and independence, in line with role requirements.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS essential)
  • Experience teaching the primary curriculum (EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2)
  • Understanding of the needs of Looked After Children and those out of mainstream education
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting vulnerable learners
  • Confidence delivering engaging, child-led sessions in various environments (home, school, community)
  • Flexibility and independence to manage your own timetable
