Job description

We are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant for an immediate start to work in a primary in the Whitehaven area. The position is to support a pupil with Autism during class and assist the teacher in lessons designed to the pupil’s ability at KS2. The role is to work in a small nurturing community-based primary.

The role:

• To support a pupil 1:1 with Autism within class and 1:1 nurture sessions
• To create a safe learning environment for a pupil with Autism in a mainstream school
• To support the teacher in delivering lessons and reporting on the pupil's development
• To communicate regularly and support third-party suppliers such as Autism specialist Speech and Language specialists

The ideal person for the role:

• Will have an understanding of Autism
• May have worked at KS2
• Is passionate about helping young people
• Is a great communicator with strong written skills
