Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming primary school in Newhaven, East Sussex, starting in September. The role focuses on helping children access learning and supporting those with additional needs.

You will work alongside class teachers, deliver small group and 1:1 support, help maintain a positive classroom environment, and assist with break and lunchtime duties. The role offers flexible full-time or part-time hours during term time.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (school or similar setting preferred).
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in class, including those with SEN.
• Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions.
• Assist teachers in ensuring all pupils can access learning.
• Support behaviour and promote a positive classroom environment.
• Carry out break and lunchtime duties as required.
• Build strong relationships with staff, pupils, and parents.
