About the role

Connex Education is in partnership with a vibrant Primary School within the Nottingham area to recruit a Teaching Assistant to provide support on a 1:1 basis.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a young child with a history of trauma in the classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have a patient and nurturing demeanor, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of the emotional, social, and developmental needs of children who have experienced significant adversity. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's life by providing educational and emotional support tailored to their specific needs. You will provide individualized support for the child in the classroom and during activities, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment, assisting in managing emotional regulation, offering comfort and stability when the child exhibits signs of distress, anxiety, or trauma-related responses.

Person Specification

  • Experience working in an educational environment with children aged between 4 and 11 years.
  • Be willing to support on a 1:1 basis or work in small groups with children
  • Have behaviour management skills and experience with trauma
  • Knowledge of Phonics and Read, Write Inc
  • Be organised and reliable
  • Have a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to process a new one
  • Willing to go the extra mile!
