Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to work in an Alternative Provision in York, starting September 2024. Qualifications

  • An Enhanced DBS registered to the update service is required, or willingness to apply for one.

GSL Education North Yorkshire is currently looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant for an Alternative Provision located in York, North Yorkshire , starting in September 2024.

Primary Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with the class teachers, the SENCO, and outside organizations to promote exceptional educational delivery.
  • The key to the job role will be developing relationships with young people and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for them.
  • Working directly with the class teachers to help students reach their maximum potential by providing support, motivation, and encouragement.
  • Create and maintain SEND friendly classrooms and teaching areas.
  • Offer assistance to children and young people within and outside of the classroom.
  • Assist in leading group activities, supervising group projects, or helping to facilitate group discussions.
  • During group activities, ensure that students stay on task, collaborate effectively, and resolve conflicts if they arise.

Primary Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or as an Education Practitioner with Primary aged students.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour within a school setting, using de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education. DBS sponsorship is available for this position .
