Primary Teacher (SEMH)

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a Primary Teacher for an Ofsted rated 'Good' Primary School located in Southampton.

Specialising in the care and education for pupils aged 7-11 who have an Education Health and Care Plan. Pupils have a range of needs, from Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) & Autism.

The successful candidate will hold responsibility for the delivery and ongoing development of Primary aged pupils with SEMH & Additional Needs, focusing on curriculum, teaching and learning, behaviour ensuring successful outcomes for our pupils.

The successful candidate will need to have had effective past experience of working with SEN pupils. A high work ethic, efficient administration skills, competent IT skills and the ability to inspire and lead others in the primary staff team are necessary.

CONTRACT DETAILS:

  • Location: Southampton, Hampshire
  • Position: Primary Teacher
  • Type of work: Primary School Teacher, SEN
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Contract type: Long-term / Permanent
  • Full time/part time: Full time
  • Paid to scale: M1-M6
  • Hours: 8am 4pm, plus parents evenings, SLT meetings

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • QTS, PGCE or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a UK school
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year is desirable but not essential as Prospero Teaching offer free a course
  • Experience with Special Educational Needs mainly: SEMH & Complex Needs

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
