I work with a wonderful SEN school in Cardiff who are currently seeking an experienced teacher to join their fantastic team on a full-time temporary basis.

The school caters for pupils between the ages of 3-11 years old with a variety of learning difficulties and are seeking an experienced teacher who has either professional or personal experience in supporting pupils with ALN.

The role will entail leading a small class of pupils to reach learning targets. The classes are smaller than mainstream and you’ll have the support of several teaching assistants in the class.

The school is looking for someone who is confident, organised, who can use their own initiative to pick up from the handover and take responsibility in supporting challenging pupils and help them hit development targets.

Due to the learning needs of the pupils who attend this school, there may often require outside-the-box thinking to engage certain pupils and patience to ensure pupils aren’t feeling disheartened when they don’t get it the first time around.

We welcome all applicants with experience in the following areas:

  • High/Low functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD);
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD);
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD);
  • Personal care;
  • Emotional and Behavioural difficulties (EBD);
  • Profound and Moderate Learning Difficulties (PMLD);
  • Dyslexia;
  • Dyspraxia;
  • Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI);

Requirements:

  • Must hold QTS in the UK.
  • The ability to drive preferred but not essential.
  • Have a passion and desire to deliver lessons/practices adhering to the National Curriculum Guidelines.
  • Have effective classroom management to accommodate a variety of learning behaviours.
  • You are able to mark and plan effectively.
  • You have a positive approach towards aiding the learning and development of young children.
  • You are innovative and motivating to engage primary age pupils within their learning.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one (this can be supported through Vision).
  • Be registered or willing to register with the EWC (this can be supported through Vision).
