SEN Class Teacher – Primary - SEN – ASD – Autism – Tadworth

The School:

The school is based near Tadworth, Surrey and provides support for primary and secondary aged pupils who have a wide range of complex needs associated with Autism. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to.

The school is set on idyllic grounds and provides a kind and caring curriculum for its pupils. The curriculum focuses on developing key aspects of each child such as independence skills, social skills, and communication, as well as physical and creative development. Due to the school's location and outstanding facilities, they are able to offer activities such as swimming and horse riding. The school is also equipped with a large sensory room and soft play area.

Job Summary:

  1. Position: SEN Class Teacher – full time – Primary
  2. Specialization: Specialist secondary school for students with Autism and associated learning and behavioural needs
  3. Class Size: Classes range from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques
  4. Facilities: Sensory rooms, soft play, and therapy rooms to provide designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors
  5. Approach: An Integrated Therapeutic Approach and extensive 1-1 support for every pupil
  6. Communication Methods: Specialist communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, and TEACCH
  7. Curriculum: A balanced, creative curriculum that focuses on preparation for ‘life after school’
  8. Professional Development: The school likes to focus on LSAs who know their objectives and who would like to continue their journey to become specialists in their chosen field
  9. Qualifications: A psychology degree or specialist SEN training is highly desirable
  10. Start Date: April 25
  11. Salary: £30,075 - £50,471 + SEN Allowance
  12. Requirements: Due to the location of the school, you MUST have a full UK driver’s license and access to a car
