Job summary

Brayton Academy, Harrogate, is seeking a primary-trained teacher to support our foundational skills interventions within the secondary academy. You will design targeted interventions to close gaps as students transition from KS2 to KS3, collaborating with SEND and curriculum leads to ensure accelerated progress.

You will bring strong knowledge of reading and writing strategies, phonics, KS2 maths, and metacognition. This role offers opportunities for career development within the Trust.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and delivering targeted interventions for foundational skills.
• Strong knowledge of reading and writing strategies, including phonics.
• Experience supporting transitions from KS2 to KS3 is desirable.

Job description

Brayton Academy are looking to appoint a primary-trained teacher to support our wider ‘foundational skills’ offer. This is an exciting new role in our secondary academy and is the latest investment in ensuring an exceptional and inclusive quality of education for all our students.

Our new Primary Teacher will support students who arrive at secondary school with gaps in their foundational skills and knowledge. In conjunction with our SEND and core curriculum leaders, you will design and deliver key interventions that will address these gaps and ensure that every student can transition successfully into secondary school life and prepare for GCSE study. We are looking for an excellent practitioner who can support our students to make accelerated progress by delivering precise and targeted interventions. You will ensure that we can bridge the gap between KS2 and KS3 and beyond for some of our most vulnerable students.

The successful candidate will be a strong classroom practitioner, have an excellent knowledge of writing and reading strategies, including phonics, the KS2 Maths curriculum and how to support metacognition and self-regulation. You will have skills to motivate and engage students and an authentic desire to enrich learning experiences of our young people and the confidence to work across teams.
