Job Title: Primary Teacher

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8HZ

Contract: Permanent Term Time Only

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth in our service, we are recruiting for a Primary Teacher to join our wonderful team at New Barn School located in Newbury!

Job Summary and Duties

As a Primary Teacher for New Barn School, you will deliver fun educational based learning tailored to each pupil to ensure they achieve positive results. The role will be challenging but rewarding, working in a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference. You will be expected to lead the teaching of and co-ordinate flexible, person-centred programmes of study for individuals and groups of pupils. A practical, hands-on approach to teaching is essential, and you should be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people we support.

Duties will include:

  • Teaching a varied range of subjects
  • Preparing, planning, and assessing teaching sessions while maintaining an awareness of curriculum developments
  • Writing and implementing individual education plans, making assessments of educational attainment, and setting challenging yet achievable targets
  • Building relationships with all young people to encourage their interest and participation in their education
  • Creating a stimulating and purposeful environment for all pupils to promote teaching and learning outside formal classroom settings

Key Skills Required:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching a range of subjects at Primary Level, delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level
  • Knowledge of current education issues related to practice, process, and curriculum
  • Experience working within an SEN setting, supporting pupils and young people with challenging behaviour (SEMH/EBD)

New Barn School offers a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6-19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities. The school takes full advantage of its beautiful settings and fosters a love for using the outdoor curriculum, including forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding. It is within a commutable distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, and Reading.
