We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team and make a lasting difference in the lives of our pupils.

Purpose of the Role

The SEN Teacher will plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning experiences for pupils with a range of additional needs. Working closely with the school's SENCO, teaching assistants, and external professionals, you will ensure that all children receive the tailored support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver differentiated and engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO to develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor pupil progress and adjust teaching accordingly.
  • Foster a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil development.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and other staff working with pupils with additional needs.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional development related to inclusion and SEN provision.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with special educational needs (in mainstream or specialist settings).
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
  • Experience working with pupils with specific needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties).
  • Additional qualifications or training in SEN or inclusion.
  • Experience using specialist interventions or assistive technologies.
