Job Description:

GSL Education Leicester is seeking a Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor to work in a Primary School. The role involves supporting Year 6 students both as a Teaching Assistant and as a Cover Supervisor in the absence of the class teacher.

As a Cover Supervisor, your main responsibilities will include:

• Supervising classes across the curriculum during teacher absences.
• Ensuring pupils engage with pre-planned work.
• Managing pupil behaviour to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Liaising with staff regarding work being set and ensuring resources are available.
• Providing feedback to the class teacher on pupil attendance, engagement, and work completion.

To be successful as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

• Hold an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher, or be a graduate considering a career in education.
• Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training can be provided).
• Be willing to undertake additional training and courses for professional development.
• Empathise with young people and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Use your initiative to work flexibly and respond to different situations.
