About the Role
Our client, a thriving and inclusive all-through school and sixth form in Newham, is currently seeking to appoint a dedicated Primary SEN Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity to join a passionate and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality education for pupils with additional needs.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, identifying and applying the most effective teaching approaches for pupils with SEN. They will play a pivotal role in supporting children’s development and progress, helping each pupil achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the primary curriculum and individual student needs

Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils with SEN, ensuring learning is accessible and impactful

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with students, colleagues, and families

Implement strategies recommended by multi-disciplinary professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists

Support behaviour management strategies and contribute to a positive learning culture

Track pupil progress and use data effectively to inform planning and teaching

Promote a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that supports pupil wellbeing and independence

Contribute to whole-school development and the school’s wider SEN strategy

What They Are Looking For
The successful candidate will:

Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree

Have successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum

Demonstrate recent and effective practice in mixed ability classes including provision for pupils with high-level SEN

Have a good understanding of child development and how SEN impacts learning and progress

Have experience working with students with ASD, SLCN, and complex cognitive needs

Be confident in managing behaviour in accordance with whole school policies

Have experience collaborating with and applying advice from external professionals including SALTs and OTs

Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive, reflective approach to teaching and professional development
