Job description

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary SEN Teacher for a full-time position at a specialist school in Havant. The school caters to pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and complex learning needs. The school’s mission is to empower every child to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally, in a supportive and inclusive setting.

About the Role:

  • Primary SEN Teacher
  • Salary Scale: £31,650 to £49,084 per annum
  • Start Date: ASAP

Primary SEN Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons tailored to the diverse needs of SEN pupils.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where every child feels valued and understood.
  • Implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets effectively into daily teaching.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and communication tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and provide regular feedback to parents and carers.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and social interaction through positive behaviour support.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies are upheld and the well-being of every pupil remains the highest priority.

Requirements for the Primary SEN Teacher Role:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or be working towards it.
  • Experience or a strong interest in teaching pupils with special educational needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a creative approach to teaching.
  • A clear, checkable work history.
  • A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Primary Teacher, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
